ESPARTO environmental policy

ESPARTO Environmental Policy and Declaration of Principles
in the sense of DIN EN ISO 14001“Guidelines for the establishment, implementation, maintenance and improvement of a
environmental management system”, insofar as elements are reasonably applicable to our trading operations.

In our company, environmental protection is an important part of our corporate policy.
We are aware that our activities always have some kind of impact on the environment. It is therefore our duty to reduce the impact on the environment to the minimum possible within the framework of economic and technical possibilities and through well-thought-out processes. Our responsibility in dealing with the environment and resources requires us to identify and evaluate the environmental aspects of our actions and to comply with the resulting decisions.
Based on our shared responsibility towards people and the environment, we have set ourselves the goal of harmonizing economically and socially fair production as well as transport and trading behavior with environmental protection by minimizing environmental pollution wherever this is technically and organizationally possible and economically viable.
It is a matter of course for us to comply with legal and regulatory requirements and other environmentally-related interests as well as the environmental protection requirements we set ourselves and to exceed them where possible.
All employees are involved in our management system and have the right and the duty to work towards eliminating circumstances that cause unnecessary pollution of the environment.
Through internal discussions, we encourage environmentally conscious behavior among our employees.
Continuous compliance with our environmental performance is essential for us as a sustainable fashion label and an important contribution to protecting the environment.
Last but not least, the annual certification according to GOTS provides a solid framework here.
Some examples of our measures are:
• Durable clothing that can be used for a long time
• Organic goods, appropriate processing, social standards: organic cotton,
certified dyeing (GOTS https://global-standard.org/de/der-standard and OEKO-TEX 100
https://www.oeko-tex.com/de/unsere-standards/oeko-tex-standard-100 )
• No rapid change of fashion in our area
• State-of-the-art production in Turkey close to Europe, no transport of goods by plane
• Use of polybags made of polyethylene (PE-LD). They are free of halogens, do not contain any plasticizers, are recyclable (melting) and in
waste incineration plants can be burned cleanly (energy generation)
• Shipping in paper or cardboard envelopes or in suitable small cardboard packages without the use of fillers
• Extensive use of cardboard packing tape instead of plastic
• Climate-neutral parcel shipping www.dhl.de/gogreen
• Direct recycling of all cardboard and polybags generated through deliveries and returns
• If possible, processing of returns and reselling as second choice
• Offering the produced goods with minor production defects as second choice
